You have all seen video advertising that comes in many different forms. When you’re watching a video on YouTube, you see an ad before the actual video plays. On Facebook, you may see one of your favorite brands in your news feed. While watching your favorite tv show or football game, you will definitely see a commercial then. Each of these forms of advertising has a particular role when it comes to niche video advertising.
Consumers are quickly turning their heads from traditional media to looking for their entertainment and exploration through digital media. It allows them to connect on a deeper level, because video essentially tells a story. Video advertising is important to businesses because through social and traditional networks, it allows you to improve brand awareness, retention, and conversions. Consumers see advertising consistently throughout the day, so to catch their eye it needs to be accessible, easy and quick to catch their attention.
We did some research to find the key statistics for video advertising and where it’s headed in the years ahead:
Wyzowl created a comprehensive survey that allows us to look more in depth with the direction video advertising is going.
These statistics from this 2016 survey cover everything from sharing, learning retention and more:
61% of businesses told us they currently use video as a marketing tool
66% were NOT using video just 12 months ago.
87% of businesses who use video say they use it on social media. Of these businesses, 78% say they believe it to be an effective tactic.
Where both text and video are available on the same web page, 69% of users would prefer to watch video to learn about a product or service.
74% of users who watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service subsequently bought it.
76% of users say they would share a branded video with their friends if it was entertaining and 55% of users would share a video if it was inspirational.
With these statistics you can see that video advertising has increasingly become the norm to share your brand across different platforms.
Even us marketers are consumers in one way or another and we too love the idea of connecting with other brands on a personal level.
We believe that in the up coming years, story telling and sharing will become more prominent (and more creative) as video shifts. With VR becoming more popular and live videos on Facebook, Instagram and more — the possibilities are endless!
